Zlatko Rucner

Cello

He was born in 1952 in Zagreb. He studied at the Academy of Music in the class of prof. Valter Dešpalj, and graduated in 1978. During his studies, he often gave solo performances in Zagreb and other cities, and performed with the Zagreb Philharmonic, the Dubrovnik City Orchestra and the Symphony Orchestra of the Academy of Music.

 

In 1978, he won the third prize at the national competition of musical artists in Zagreb. Until 1984, he was the solo cellist of the Zagreb Philharmonic, and then he became a member of the Zagreb Soloists. He often performs as a soloist performing works of all musical eras composed for cello and strings (Couperin, Boccherini, Haydn, Matz, Bragato…).

 

He also performs as a soloist with the Zagreb Philharmonic and the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra. He participated in the work of several chamber ensembles such as the Croatian Piano Trio, the Zagreb String Trio, and today he is also a member of the Sebastian String Quartet. In the early nineties, he worked as a part-time cello teacher at the Academy of Music, and since 1996 he has been teaching chamber music.
