Cello became a solo instrument at the end of the 18th century. Beautiful concertos were composed for virtuosos and this concert will feature the most significant.
Haydn created two frenzied and monumental works, with magnificent melodies, while Boccherini drew inspiration and energy from his Mediterranean background for brilliant rivalry between soloist and orchestra. These chamber storms are wonderfully served by the generosity of the cellist Marc Coppey who will electrify the famous Zagreb soloists, in the magnificent Hercule Salon.
