Giovanni Gnocchi<\/strong><\/h2>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Salzburg-based Italian cellist Giovanni Gnocchi made his debut as soloist at the Hong Kong Arts Festival in a concert together with Yo-Yo Ma. He performed as a soloist under the baton of some of the most prestigious conductors like Gustavo Dudamel, Christopher Hogwood, Carlo Rizzi, Umberto Benedetti Michelangeli, Alexander Lonquich, Alexander Shelley, Daniel Cohen, Michele Spotti, Daniele Agiman, Enrico Bronzi, Daniele Giorgi, Aram Khacheh, at the Hong Kong Arts Festival, Wiener Konzerthaus, Mozart-Woche in Salzburg, Beethoven-Fest Bonn, Liederhalle Stuttgart, Smetana Hall in Prague, Kurhaus Wiesbaden, KKL Luzern, Essen Philharmonie, Rosengarten Mannheim and many more.<\/p>\n

In these years, he has been playing as a soloist with the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra, Camerata Salzburg, North Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestra della Toscana of Florence, Orchestra da Camera di Mantova, Filarmonica of Teatro La Fenice in Venezia, OGI-Orchestra Giovanile Italiana, also as soloist and conductor and he’s been soloist in residence<\/i> for three years at Orchestra Sinfonica Rossini in Pesaro.<\/p>\n

\u200b \u00a0 He recently performed Prokofiev’s Sinfonia Concertante in Mexico with the Orquesta Filarm\u00f3nica de Jalisco and Jos\u00e9 Luis Castilllo, Brahms’ Double with Anna Tifu and the Filarmonica Toscanini and Joel Sandelson, Beethoven’s Triple in Lugano with Marco Rizzi and Adrian Oetiker, Michael and Franz Joseph Haydn Concertos in Italy and in Salzburg with the Philharmonie Salzburg and Elisabeth Fuchs, both Nino Rota Concertos and works by Mieczyslaw Weinberg in Italian premiere.<\/p>\n

Passionate chamber player, he has performed with Martha Argerich and Mischa Maisky, played with Leonidas Kavakos, Mario Brunello, members of the Hagen Quartet, in duo with Andrea Lucchesini, Alessandro Stella, Alexander Lonquich, Alasdair Beatson, with Ilya Gringolts, Alena Baeva, Roman Simovic, Pekka Kuusisto, Liza Ferschtman, Jennifer Stumm, Yura Lee, Olli Mustonen, Vadym Kholodenko, Alessandro Carbonare, at the Lucerne Festival, Ark-Nova Concert Hall in Japan, Casals Festival in Prades, Festival Radio-France in Montepellier, Verbier Festival, Delft Music Festival in the Netherlands, J\u00e4rna Music Festival in Sweden, Ilumina Festival in Brazil, KotorArt Festival in Montenegro, Festival Musikdorf Ernen in Switzerland, Ljubljana Cello Fest in Slovenia.<\/p>\n

He has given chamber concerts at the Esplanade in Singapore and a solo recital at the Hong Kong City Hall for the Hong Kong International Cello Association.<\/p>\n

His solo and chamber music performances have been broadcasted by RAI-Radio3, ORF-1 Austria, RTVS- R\u00e1dio Slovensko, Bayerische Rundfunk 4-Klassik and NPO-Radio4 in Olanda. He recorded solo and chamber music projects for Deutsche Grammophone, Stradivarius and for the University Mozarteum.<\/p>\n

Winner of the 1st Prize in the \u201cF. J. Haydn\u201d Competition of Vienna, of the Borletti-Buitoni Trust Fellowship of London (both with David Trio), he was laureate in the Prague Spring Cello Competition, Antonio Janigro Cello Competition in Zagreb, and in duo with Mariangela Vacatello at the Parkhouse Award of London at the Wigmore Hall.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Giovanni has been Solo-Cellist of Camerata Salzburg for 8 years and Guest Principal Cellist in the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of London with Daniele Gatti, and in the Orchestra Mozart with Claudio Abbado, M\u00fcnchner Philharmoniker, Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra, Rotterdam Philharmonic, Sidney Symphony and co-principal cellist in the London Symphony with Valery Gergiev.
\nSince 2008 he has been member of the Lucerne Festival Orchestra, playing with Claudio Abbado, Bernard Haitink and Andris Nelsons.
\nIn 2013 he has been appointed Univ. Professor of Violoncello at the Universit\u00e4t Mozarteum of Salzburg.<\/p>\n
