Zagreb soloists at the 45th Estoril Lisbon Festival

The Zagreb soloists gave three concerts at the prestigious 45th edition of the Estoril Lisbon festival. This year's festival was dedicated to the 500th anniversary of Magellan's voyage and 50th anniversary of the moon landing, and was held under the high patronage of the President of the Republic of Portugal, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, Prime Minister Antonio Costa and Minister of Culture Grace Fonseca.

Zagreb soloists performed in Estoril with the winner of last year’s competition held as part of the festival, flutist Ana Ferraz.

 

The Zagreb soloists and Ana Ferraz also performed in the historic town of Alcobaca, known for its medieval monastery, the necropolis of Portuguese rulers and the tragic love story of the Portuguese king Pedro I and Inês de Castro.

 

Russian pianist Alexander Ghindin performed with our ensemble at his second concert in Estoril.

The Estoril Lisbon Music Festival was founded in 1975, and since then the festival has hosted renowned world artists such as cellist Mstislav Rostropovič, ballet dancer Rudolf Nurejev, opera singers such as Teresa Berganza, Christa Ludwig, Gundula Janowitz, etc., and prestigious orchestras. such as the Moscow and Berlin Philharmonics, the European Union Baroque Orchestra, the Spanish National Ballet and many others. Numerous works by leading composers of the 20th and 21st centuries were composed for the Estoril Lisbon festival. century – Olivier Messiaen, György Ligeti, Anton Weber and others.
